Oh, Paul, I really liked this poem for the contest. It's so well written and it is so spot on. When we are in love, we look for whatever sign that it is returned. Good luck in the contest with this sweet poem. Ulla:)))

Thanks, Ulla. It tied for second place. I thought it was one of my better ones.

This and one other entry gave me pause to wonder if kids still pull petals asking those to questions ... does he love me or does he not. Might be the better way of choosing a mate since 1 in 2 marriages don't last.

That's a good one, Tom. I guess you should have used that method first time around.

I really liked this. You have some great lines in here, including:
I wonder if he is the one,
Or will it just be hit and run?
The styling is solid, and I love your image choice. I do find the narrator of the poem to be really naïve (maybe a child?) about relationships. :)

Thanks, Zoe. Are you trying to tell me that the daisy method does not really work???

LOL!

Very smooth in both metre and rhyme, and well crafted from beginning to end, staying true to the theme required. The presentation is excellent as well. Best wishes for your entry.

Thanks, Wendy. Do you have daisies in Australia?

Yes, we do, plenty of daisies, and some "paper daisies" and "everlasting daisies" (wildflowers). I love them, and have them in my garden . Mass planting look great and the little ones canpick them for their mothers.

Lovely and charming poem. It reads like a youthful love and questioning the other's motive. Again, the childish response will be the petals counting and revealing. I love the whole ingenuous tone and the purity of the entire work. Great job!

Thanks, Mario. With the divorce rate being so high, maybe this method should be used more often.

As children we really believed what the pulling of petals foretold. However, the speaker here is an adult and still believes that. A well composed story line with a cute ending.

That's really cute and well composed. We know that the daisy is the best way to find out about love! Your poem is easy reading; the picture adds to the work. Good luck in the contest! Evi

Excellent entry for the He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not writing prompt contest.
The rhymes and meter are not forced and they flow well. I remember pulling daisy petals... he loves me he loves me not... :) it is something many of us do. Believing in a little magic is alright.
the structure makes sense, it draws on emotions and it presents strong images.
Good luck.

Oh my gosh! How often did I do this as a young teen? I wonder if anyone still does? The nostalgia this poem brings is only excelled by your clever verse...
"I wonder if he is the one,
Or will it just be hit and run?"
(I laughed out loud)
So, did you ever discard the flower and pick another if the answer wasn't what you'd hoped?
I did!

Thanks, Karenina. Yes. Many times I had to try a second or third time.

It does my heart good to know we young women were not the only ones doing this!
