I think all of us as we travel long in this mode of life need to have someone who will be the breath in our sales and the mass that we can hold onto. This was definitely romantic in its truest sense. There was no question that the writer needs this other person to complete them. I love the nautical theme. Especially the breath in my sails line. Very evocative. Gretchen

An excellent Tanka presented so beautifully. The image is stunning. It is very romantic, and offers original ways to express love (your breath in my sails suggesting life, motivation, purpose and movement) and the mast suggesting strength and security. Lovely one.

love how you used breath for the sails and the mast of a boat to hold on to. never thought of a mast that way...
i liked the middle line being a little darker than the others - makes it stand out more

The metaphor you chose to heighten your intent and conclusion is very poetic... and if one keeps their mind out of the gutter and reads the real meaning of the last line... which I have now given myself a good talking to about, then the connection to a salvation is a strong and capable way to conclude this beautiful Tanka.
I must say, I do love this form... and as always, your composition, construction, presentation and colour scheme gel so perfectly to its entirety.
