Like the choice of artwork and and think you got a lot in for 80 words! The destruction of humankind! Good luck with the contest. This piece was thought-provoking.

Thanks, Zoe. Who knows? Maybe we are living through the second attempt.

Only if the creator allowed it. It's funny how God changed my mind just after I knew of His existence, I blurted out the answer, I realised at that time, we have blind spots. Beautifully written Paul, a great post, good luck, blessings Roy

Well, this might be truer than we'd like to believe. A most interesting thought, well-written and clear, and startling in its frankness. I don't know that it would be accurate to say I "enjoyed it" but I certainly found it worthwhile and thought-provoking. Thank you for sharing it. MM

Thanks, Adonna. Hopefully this will not happen, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Nuclear bombs are deadly. No one wants to think about it as you said 99% will be dead. That's scary.

This is a good warning piece for dangerous weapon.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the review. If we can keep them out of the hands of the terrorists, I think we will be okay.

Magnificent! I hope this never happens. For sure, the radiation from nuclear bombs would eradicate everything. And you handled the fate of the survivors in one sentence. A six for that verb in the last sentence: crawled.

Thanks, Shari. If this does happen, I don't want to be around, but it could be any day.

This is an excellent story. You have said so much in few words. Hopefully it is not prophetic, but the way the world is going, it's not that far fetched.

The use of nuclear power threatens the world. Its existence will either prevent the war to end all wars, or it will end life as we know it today. This is a dark, but creative story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks, LJ. What I fear most is a terrorist group getting hold of a nuclear device.

Well, I would say this is a depressing look ahead, Paul.
However, you depicted it correctly. Man is his worst enemy.
When the end comes, as you wrote, everything will start
over. Your words were descriptive with great details. You
showed the scary side of nuclear weapons.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes, Jan

As dark as this is, Paul, I had a fleeting thought that said, "Maybe this time we'll get it right." They say flash fiction must tell an entire story with its few words; I think you've given us two complete stories here: how life will end on Earth, and the beginning of possibly something better.

Good luck with the contest - a good entry.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading. I hate to think this is possible but in today's world anything is possible and it's scary. I couldn't find any way to improve this entry. Good luck with the contest.

Thanks, Barb. It is only a matter of time when the first nuclear weapon will be detonated.
