This was a fun and engaging post that I can empathize with. I am in the midst of my own publishing adventure. I know authors go through many, many drafts before the story is ready, and even then finding the right publisher is a challenge. I've had two glowing rejections on my children's book so far, lol. I like the tone you use for this story, and the details you add about your publishing process. It was interesting to watch how your story grew and changed as you got help and made edits. I always find behind-the-scenes publishing stories to be educational and captivating. I appreciated this story.

I have read that post .What i am baffled is that where does the committee come here? Was it a contest? or did you ask the committee to review? And in a contest do the membes of the committee give detailes opinions?

Thank you for the review. I thought I was pretty clear that I had asked for the committee to review the story for the feather of quality seal. Sorry if you missed it. But that is where the committee came into the story. Terry.
-
oh! So that is how feather of quality seal comes.one has to request for it? I thought as usual the number of reviews does that .Thanks for clarifying.(Bit on the slow these days LOL)
-
LOL, you also have to use member dollars to pay for it.

Terry, let me at em! Let.me at em! I've been wondering who the Committee is, personally.
To do this, you have to pretend a bit, I've found. You have to pretend you know nothing and that each person in the Committee shared a womb with: Einstein, William Shakespeare, and George Orwell, and The Wizard of Oz).
I mean, one must play stupid just to be polite here. I literally possess a Masters degree in Literacy, Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening and everything related to teaching those things. Meaning I'd love to check out the Committee's writing, if I knew who they were.
Although I was a teacher for nearly 30 years, I am not someone who likes to judge the work of others..hee hee I honestly find value in any kind of thing a human creates. People who judge in secrecy do not speak my language and I don't care who sees this because I've been seeing some upside down and backwards choices that have m been made. I enjoy Member bucks as much as the next guy and one day I can only dream of winning a (gulp!) hundred dollars! Cue Dr Evil, here.
None of that matters tp me. What matters to me is, valuing the creative efforts of others, raising up every positive voice and idea, and giving moral support to people I admire and respect. Carry on, Terry! Your imagination, talent, and experience dwarfs any Committee.
Sincerely,
Alex

I think I actually read the story, it was quite good I recall. I've been reluctant to go the way of publishing, I have nil ambition, but I've resolved to publish for my grandchildren's sakes, and for friends if they care, but good luck, I'm not really a fan of Jay's latter, but I am of his earlier stuff, well done, blessings Roy

I truly appreciate your open and honest, and sometimes humorous details of your encounter with "The Committee," when trying to be awarded The Seal Of Quality. I now know you get a professional critique. I'm also glad to know FanStory members were willing to help.
Your persistence and belief in your capabilities is inspirational. I enjoyed reading your journey, and wish you much, much success with your book. I look forward to reading your follow-up story of achievement.

Wishing you all the best with your publishing. It is indeed the hardest part of being an author. But you have all the right ingredients. A good story. Belief in your project and tenacity. Go get em!

This made me laugh. It's heartening to hear other writers talking about people 'red pens' so to speak. The committee sounds like a good idea, but also not at the same time.
In any case, I'll buy a copy! I'm 38, but can still enjoy a good Christmas story.
Plus, I have a niece. :)

Carol, thank for the review, and the story did develop quiet about more, and I think the tenses did get straight. Terry.

Well, good for you, Terry! The important thing is that you went into your publishing venture with your eyes wide open, and your rose-colored specs pocketed. I admire the hell out of what you did. And I'm gonna want a copy of it as soon as it arrives in a bookstore near home. I have a hunch you have the marketing angle worked out. With all your connections from your working days ... were any of them in the entertainment business? I wonder. I hear that Jenna Bush Yeager (sp?) is approachable and is an avid reader. Can you even imagine what it would mean if you slipped her a copy of your book to read somewhere around Thanksgiving time. I know how you write. She'd love it. All you'd need is to get your contacts on board with you. I think you could do it!
By the way, thanks for the mention in your post. Geez ... you've got me so excited!
