The sentence that begins, "After some coffee, organic cereal . . ." I think you need a comma instead of a period to complete your sentence.

A member here once shared the committee's comments on a collection he submitted for review with me, and I found them to be very helpful. I know the comments can seem personal and can "smart" a little, but if it gets you to thinking about how you can make it better, isn't that worth the hurt feelings?

It sounds like the negative experience has spun itself into a positive one for you, and THAT makes it worth it:-)

Very interested to hear how this all plays out. And to expand a story to 10,000 words is a monumental achievement - congratulations on that.

Good luck and take care,
Pam

Pam, thank you for your comments. I didn't try to polish this little story too much. Terry.

Hi Terry, you actually made me smile as I read along your well written narrative how your original story has expanded into an illustrated book. I really admire you for that. I have two books which I'm fairly happy with and I wouldn't mind going the hybrid way, but I simply can't afford it. I know my shortcomings, as English is not my first language. An editor will certainly be needed.
By the way, I read the story you published in March and enjoyed it very much. I'm looking forward to your further updates. By the way, I'm a grandmother to three young girls.
Good luck. Ulla:)))

Well written story and I do enjoy your humour and wit! I wish you every success for this book on its way. Even this "update" is great fun. Well done.

Very fun reading. (The sixth star is for your head.)

3500-5000-10,000 Word count is a funny creature.
I read a Stephen King Twitter post recently. He was asked whether he evr considered taking out 75% of his words - "Nope."
Good luck with the project.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, Terry. I'm going to buy a copy when it comes out. I wrote a story about my Hedgerow Capers gang, (little forest creatures) who helped Santa when his elves were sick.) Your story of how Santa began and all that transpires sounds just what the children around the would will enjoy. I few tips when your book is published: Phone around young children's schools and offer to read the story to them. That generates sales, especially near Christmas. Put a piece in the local newspapers about your book, I did that and it went on to an offer to advertise it free in a magazine, complete with how I became a published author at 70. (they like stories that will sell their magazines) Go to the library ask if they'll put a couple of copies on the shelves. Mine are in an American library, I'm English. Once they had accepted the first book, they happily take all mine now. Offer to read it to the children, some libraries have a 'story time' hour on Saturdays, and holidays. Just don't be shy, if the children like the story, which I'm sure they will, they will ask their parents to buy a copy. I wish you the very best of luck with your book. Well done!! I'm excited for you, don't forget to let us know once it's published! Sandra xx

Sandra, thank you for your review and your stellar suggestions. By the way, the story has a pretty strong English historical connection. Terry.

Well. I remember saying I hoped this story wouldn't end there, so I'm glad it's tripled in volume, and look forward to reading the new content. With (Franglais) grandchildren of my own, and work experience in the field, if ever you want to take it world-wide, I'll sign on happily with my son (he knows all the masculines and feminines in French that I'm shaky on) for the job of translating it into French if you want. kay
