I am so glad you wrote on this subject. Wish I was as good with punctuation as you are. You did an incredible job addressing the topic in the first paragraph. The example you gave us describing the interaction between student and teacher was great.

Words can change the course of history.
One of my favorite bible verses is: Proverbs 15:4 Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

Wonderful flash story!

Oh yes, there's a proverb in the Bible, that says, "The power of life and death are in the tongue, and those that eat their fruit will suffer the consequences." I think even the written word unleashed by the tongue, or read by the accused, can heal or wound. Beautifully written, great post, great narrative, blessings Roy

You have put into story form, a great discussion on the power of words. The teacher was wise in his demonstration of how words could make a person feel and the arrogant student would have done well not to interrupt. However, the ending is satisfying as the student has to laugh at his own ignorance. Best wishes in the contest.

There is nothing like an object lesson to drive home the point. This teacher is adept at getting the point across so the student appreciates and learns from the lesson. Excellent story.
Good luck in the contest.

Awww how cute! I love how you chose the power of words for the plot of a writing prompt. Maybe it was just me, but I imagined a classroom from the early 1900s, and the whole class giggling at how the teacher pulled that off. ~Heather

Yes the point is amply illustrated here re the sheer power of words and the response they can generate- a lovely humorous touch here that carries the message.

Clever piece of writing, and the teacher showed her skill on the spur of the moment by providing a lived example of the truth of her words, a lesson the kid won't forget. Good story! Best wishes for the contest.

Great entry for the two hundred word contest. I also thought if I was a teacher I would have had great fun messing with the students minds. Too funny.

Anyways, I saw no errors. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

This is a very good entry for the 200 words writing contest. It relays a strong message on the power of words and how word can make or break a situation. I like that this story is written to a classroom scene. Cleverly done.

This is a very interesting and true story you have penned. Words can do a lot of harm to someone or it can encourage them. We can speak life or death with the words we say. This is even in the Bible. God created the world with words. God made words and He created us! Best wishes in the contest. Teri
