This just made me want to go listen to some orchestra.. Not something I typically listen to but no one said I could not broaden my genre selection. Piano is what I listen to the most but I am excited to find some new stuff! Thank you for sharing! ~Janel

Thank you Janel for your encouraging review. I wish I knew how to add music to my posts. I think a piano or violin piece would have been fun ,for the reader. I?ll have to work on that.

Like Mary Poppins, this piece is "practically perfect in every way." Meter, flow, and rhyme...so good. Love the twist at the end even though the title sort of gives it away it does build curiosity waiting for the connection. Thanks for sharing with us.
Blessings.

The author's words are filled with the joy beautiful music gives! These
words are engaging, descriptive and creative. The violins bring back so
many memories for me - I know why this author says they can make you
laugh or cry! Thank you for the author's notes - they speak volumes!
The artwork is awesome! Great Poem, Janet!

Hello Janet,
A wonder poem for the musical Instruments contest
with a interesting switch in the last stanza to match the picture choice.
The meter is smooth, the rhymes flow, now if only there was an audio
of violins and Steinway piano to accompany the verse.
Well done.
(I love them both, as well as acoustic guitar)
Best wishes.
Robert

Thank Robert for this stellar review. One of these days I?m going to learn how to add music to my post. The violin a piano would have been a marvelous addition to the piece. I?m glad you liked the switch in the last stanza. That was fun.

    Blessings.

Do you play the violin Janet, the sound of this instrument always sounds sad to me and I always enjoy the sound. You obviously love music Janet and I enjoyed your musical poem here, a delightful post, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly for your thoughtful review. One of my granddaughters is a marvelous violinist. I am not but I thoroughly enjoy the variety of sounds. I especially like to hear an Irish tune on the violin.

I do love the violin. I'm always drawn to a song with violins in it. It just reaches my soul. So I get it that you mesh with the piano. There is something hypnotic about music. Something that speaks to us so much deeper than mere words. Great job. Gretchen

This is clever fun and witty and I love your turn of a phrase yet I can't quite understand why you choose the violin as your favorite yet you in the end say your favorite is the Ivories of the baby grand. So all in all this is lovely and it works extremely well but I have a hard time with the change from one instrument to the other.

Thank you Jesse for your thoughtful review. I got the idea for the switch in instruments from an experience I had many years ago. My husband and I were attending a Marvin Hamlisch concert. Marvin could write a song on the spot. During the performance, he asked for someone to shout out a title and he would write a song about. So my husband shouted "I love Janet". Marvin proceeded to immediately start singing a song and it was all about his love for Lucille. However, the very last line of the song was:
"But can it, cause I love Janet".
And know you know the rest of the story. I don?t think you?ll ever hear my song on the radio but it was quite a night for my husband and me and after the show, we got his autograph.

    Thanks again Jesse.

This was quite clever, and I am glad you had an audience to applaud for his song.

Hi Janet,
This is a well done poem for the contest. I agree with you about strings and how their music effects the heart and mind. I tried both violin and piano lessons as a child and was woefully bad on both. My mom played the piano until arthritis stopped her.

Thank you Joan for your encouraging review. My granddaughter plays the violin beautifully. I?ve read it is one of the most difficult instruments to play well. It?s a nice memory you have of your mom playing the piano.

Well how do you know it's not? Have you ever had is it valued? Lol! I know what you're saying. I love stringed instruments as well, and wish I could play one. I loved your beautifully written poem, Janet. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla for your thoughtful review. I did have it appraised and it?s worth about $4,000 if you can find a buyer. But I?m enjoying it hanging on the wall right by my piano.
So pleased you enjoyed this one.

Being a guitarist, I know about smaller stringed instruments, like a ukulele, (although the ukulele comes in different sizes and names) but you're right Janet, The mellow sounds of the violin and something to music that can't be made by other instruments, although my although my albums had electronically generated sounds, but there's nothing quite like the sounds of the actual violin. Beautifully written My friend, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy for these wonderful comments. I was sure you would identify with the sounds of the stringed instruments. I don?t play the violin but one of my granddaughters plays beautifully. The keyboard really is my favorite.
    I appreciate your kind comments.
