The repeated structure you employ adds strength and solidity to your poem and also allows for a progression to a strong ending.
This appears to be a love poem addressed to a loved one who is absent - this is subtly conveyed in the reference to a tearstained face.
Excellent piece and I wish you good luck in the contest - this should do well.
