What a great start to a great story! It's not easy to explain change and how it can send people on a roller coaster ride that seems like it's impossible to take the next step. Especially when losing something or someone that was the center of your universe. It's important to realize in that time we have shoulders to lean on! Weather it's our animals our hobbies or good friends as long as we have each other it makes life simpler and happier! And this first chapter is definitely a great storyline for implementing companionship and life lessons for our young preteens! I hope you add onto it! And I can not wait read the whole story!!

Thank you for your delightful review. This chapter is the beginning of my finally findig respite in so many losses. If you read the 1st chap. in my portfolio, you'll see in the autobiographical allegory, every animal & my former partner have all gone to the Rainbow Bridge, Maureen passed in a botched surgery. I like the quote that we "need to feel tears on your cheeks to feel the rainbow in our hearts." This seems to set the tone of the piece as the story unfolds and we find a sad reality in the form of medium-sized kitty who appears to have been orphaned. In-keeping with the theme of the story Billie is asked to bring kitty to a place of safety but it seems kitty's troubled soul is going to need more than this to vanquish his fears. Small edit: short-lived (stray?) Thanks for sharing. Debbie
