Fabulous imagery and emotions you conjure up in your tiny poem with so few words. It's very powerfully expressed and clever and made me smile despite the pain which seeps through the words. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your 3rd place.

Awesome work, June. What a great poem that is so powerful... it reminds me creating a floral design... the empty spaces are just as important as the filled spaces. That is what I thought as I read your verse. Well done.

Hello June. This is a perfect example of a twenty syllable poem, with a really clever and heartfelt message.
The opening two lines form a kind of question which needs to evoke a response; when it comes, we are surprised because lines three and four appear to contain an oxymoron: You covered your ears because of the lack of sound? Illogical? No - you covered your ears at the horror of the situation. Who wants to hear rejection from the beloved? Desolation!
The poem works brilliantly. Thank you.

Hello June. This is a perfect example of a twenty syllable poem, with a really clever and heartfelt message.

Illogical? No - you covered your ears at the horror of the situation. Who wants to hear rejection from the beloved? Desolation!
