This was both funny and relatable. I think almost everyone has done this at some point or another. Thank you for teaching me "dolce far niente." Best wishes to you!

I would definitely wait until Christmas (at least) to undergo such a drastic change in lifestyle. At the moment I have Doctor's orders to walk for half an hour each day, and this is reinforced by a nationwide call to do some activity for half an hour per day in this our olympic year, but one day in two I resist the call to stir myself, and concentrate on hibernating. kay

Oh my goodness I can so relate to this! lol Nicely written. I attempt to start a new diet every Sunday night at midnight and every last day of the month at midnight but God forbid i ingest food after midnight then my whole diet is already blown so I have to put it off another week or month...depending lol At this point in my life I think it might be easier to just embrace the weight. What a concept! Good job.

Interesting juxtaposition. I have a whole dissertation (I would not be so cruel as to do any wordplay) dessertation on this topic. I don't quite know where to start. First off, there are many reasons why people procrastinate and it isn't laziness.

In the group I did where I worked at a psych Hospital for substance abuse patients we talked about procrastination. It was fascinating what they came up with for reasons people procrastinate. One of them of course were, "I've got better or easier things to do. But a lot more about fear of failure, being criticized etc.We decide laziness is just a negative word people use that is kind of a way of saying it so they don't have to actually talk about their fear or their dread. I just thought I'd throw that out for you to consider.

Hi Iza! You're so funny! I like that you can write grants and dissertations on how to lose weight but instead you say, "So far I have managed to lose my mind and motivation." If it helps, I can say that middle age is that time of life when the body starts to process food slower. Just eat slower. It also helps to walk around while eating. (Lol.)

Slower? I will die of hunger:) Because of my work schedule I get to eat my dinner around 9 pm, this dosen't help:)

Eat small meals at work. Protein bars and stuff like that. Eating dinner at 9 is too late and hard for your body to process the food. Take care of yourself! 💖

My right knee got so painful I struggled walking. One of my son's encouraged me to see a doctor. I went to a knee specialist. I have significant arthritis and bone-on-bone. No wonder I was in pain. He also said I was in such bad physical shape that I wasn't a candidate for knee replacement surgery. GREAT!!! Can't exercise to get in shape because my knee hurts so bad. He recommended physical therapy. I went and my pain level went for a daily 8-9, to a daily 1-2. The therapist said I graduated; I think I timed out. LOL Anyway, I am now doing aqua fitness three times a week and introduction to fitness twice a week. I feel so much better, honestly, I do. I know how I let myself get into that shape. I was lasting effects of chemotherapy, but I allowed it to continue way too long. I know this is more than you ever wanted, but I want to encourage. Thank you for sharing.

Putting off today what you know you still won't do tomorrow. I used to say I resemble that remark. Just kidding. Like it or not there come a time we have to get it in gear and help others in need. Motivation kicks in and laziness kicks out when you become a care giver, you don't have time to stop and be lazy ever again.Time now to save our loved one become our struggle to keep them comfortable till the end.

I agree with you, there is no better day as today.

Writing grants and dissertations with your eyes ... very funny. And I had to look up dolce fair niente to get the meaning. It ends on a positive note for the whole idleness thing. My computer shows a period punctuation after betraying, but the second stanza doesn't capitalize the first word, even though it belongs to the former. Don't know if that's important. Funny about the cats. I also wondered if you wanted punctuation after "What's the point". That's all for now. Thank you; it was a nice, easy read.

There is no time like the present to make changes that save your life and encourage you to be positive. A fresh new day has the promise and all you have to do is do it. Our lazy mind sometimes takes over and we give up before we start, but small steps turn into big strides if we stay focused. An interesting write Iza, love Dolly x
