I think it is very proper to write this poem for the scene of the picture. When dusk comes, and if I am away from home, I would miss home and want go home shortly. A very nice poem for the picture.

reading this it sounds as though it may refer to a loss of another person... the losses we reflect upon in the quiet times.
Me: I read this a few times... and each time read, it magnified my perception... my interpretation... and I guess it's the grass that triggered the thought of...
I'll miss you the most
When dusk descends upon the reeds--
It made me feel a loss, a reflection on losing the younger self... more so having it stolen away. In the quiet times only thoughts reach in a tug away at the years that can't be replaced.
Yes, maybe I read to much into single words that trigger emotions that trigger my own thoughts of loss to come to these conclusions... but hey(((((((((... isn't that's what poetry should do? Reach in and drag out the emotions of the reader in whichever way they interpret the words?
No matter, the actual Tanka poem is..., that it allows the reader to ponder, to engage in a deeper level of thought, not just a read and then move on.
So for you to have created something so tangible in such a short format shows just how skilled you are at not only the connecting to your audience, your construction, your presentation... and the way in which it is composed to evoke.
Stunning!

Thank you very much for the perceptive review. I am doing a lot of soul searching and inner child work these days so I think it pours over my writing. I didn't give it a lot of thought... most of the time I write intuitively. Other times, I intend to write about emotions that come up. So many emotions ... so much to write... for me it's a great way to process. Thank you for taking the time to read and review my work with so much detail and insightful feedback.

I know exactly where your head and heart is at... writing is a great pressure valve... and sometimes it makes it too real... so it's a real balancing act at times... especially the prose. But I am truly glad you are finally working on repairing your relationship with your inner child... it hurts my heart to think of what she went through.
