Hi Wendy,
I enjoyed your story about those gibbon love songs.
I have a few favorite love songs. But I'll just mention two. I've always loved Billy Joel's song, "Just The Way You Are". Hard to top that one. But another song that comes close is by The Eagles, and sung by Timothy B. Schmit... "Love Will Keep Us Alive".

Thanks for sharing! Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

I have heard of Gibbons before but never know the facts about their singing. They sound like very interesting animals. I really liked the following paragraph: "Even better, and more amazing, is the fact that once they are together, their songs blend, and they create a new song, their own special duet, unique for each couple."

I am excited to tell my husband about what you wrote about the Gibsons... This is something both of us did not know. Recently we watched a documentary about apes... on Netflix...it was amazing...
Thank you so much for sharing!!

If you google "gibbons duets" you can find videos with their vocalisations. Knowing what the sounds are for makes it very special. Thank you so much for your lovely review.

How interesting. I didn't know that about the duet - sort of reminiscent of two people becoming one when they marry, and I love that the female keeps her part going while they're apart.

I've sung a couple of duets. One of them, my friend sang the first verse because it was about marriage; I sang the second (about Abraham and Sarah), and we both sang the last verse about friendship.

That sounds beautiful. I love the harmony of duets.
Yes, their song does bring to mind their complete union and one-ness, like a marriage. Thank you for your thoughtful review.

A wonderful and very informative read, I maybe a bit different but my most liked songs are about breakups, "aint no mountain high enough" not real sure if this is considered (breakup) (dianna ross) "strong enough" (cher) very well written****kahpot

When I was young, I wanted my boyfriend, when I grew up, to be able to sing or play the piano or both. It never happened. My husband took piano lessons, but didn't like it and quit.

The gibbon girls stick to their desire for a singing partner. The fact that gibbons sing, create a duet, and mate for life is beautiful. I love their story. Thanks for your research.

This is really interesting and almost hard to believe. It sound even more romantic than humans. I wonder how long it took fort those that study the species to figure out these sounds wer4 actually a love song.

Wow! That is beautiful! Thank you for teaching me about the love song of the gibbons. I never heard of this before and this fits the club challenge perfectly. I didn't know the songs you mentioned in the beginning but found it amusing that it didn't keep that one pair of singers together. Apparently, the gibbons are better at love songs to keep their love growing!

Thank you so much. Lovely review. Yes, I too thought it was so beautiful, so thank you also for the prompt. Why do humans have so much trouble? (oh yes, I remember it's our sinful self-focus!) Animals do better than humans at many things.

And I thought the song was called Do the Funky Gibbon. You may be too young to know about this one. Here is what Google says:

'The Funky Gibbon" is a novelty song by Bill Oddie and recorded by The Goodies. It was arranged by Tom Parker ("with interference from Bill Oddie") with the musical backing provided by members of the R&B band Gonzalez and released as a single in February 1975.'

But I enjoyed your article too.
