Without going into your opinions you just show us how the "machine" of media controls the "collective consciousness" using these scenes. And I really hate that it can control people's views because they just believe in their brand of TV channel which in turn feeds into what they already want to believe. Thus, the various channels create separate mental universes and make it hard for people to accept and understand each other. Thought-provoking poem!

Thanks for the excellent review and 'thought provoking' is what I aim for. Glad I got that sense of the shaping of public opinion by those who control the media across. Just yesterday I watched the news and as usual, it's all stories meant to bend opinion on climate change, disparages of Trump (which I'm getting tired of listening to) and garner sympathies for supporters of the progressive agenda. I think people need to realize that just because these companies come up with something that is going to save them money and make them money at the same time doesn't mean its good for mankind. All this interfacing with machines isn't healthy. We are meant to be social creatures and interact in person. estory

Agreed. But while the chronic reporting on Trump is annoying, I do hope he never runs for any office again. And I am hoping for a third party who will actually be a government for the people and not just against the other party.

Yeah I think it's time Trump was put out on one of his golf courses for good. I was planning on voting for DeSantis but I think that is looking unlikely now. A third party candidate is not going to make it passed the Wall Street barage of money. estory

Sigh. That's not what democracy was supposed to be. I don't see a candidate who is willing to be a spokesman for the general public and not the extremists.

All this media coverage of Trump is backfiring on the people who think this will stop his support. He loves the attention. The judge should just say no media can utter his name for a month and see what happens.

It is true the machine may shape people opinions but lately not in the same direction. I've never seen people's mindset so divided. There ae many different channels in the machine and some are shape the mind and depending on where your focus is is how your mind will be shaped. I think the machine is deviding rather than uniting us.

Thanks for the excellent review and for your perspective on the piece and the theme here. That's part of the machine's goal; dividing us and causing conflict. Misery always loves company. estory

Thank you, estory, another provocative and compelling write. Daily, we are fed stuff that's not truth and even flies in the face of truth. Truth never changes.

Even in biology. I read where another college professor was let go for teaching on XX and XY chromosomes, and the undeniable science of two genders: male and female. Surgeries, hormones, multilation, fluid identify, and cultural brainwashing will never change this fact, although the powers that be try and try.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sal :)) xo

Thanks for your excellent review of my little piece and I agree 100%. They are creating artificial sexuality, I guess the same way they are trying to create artificial chicken and claiming it's better than nature. Years from now they will determine that all those hormone therapies are going to cause cancer. Just like the birth control pills probably cause autism. but they are making tons of money on it so they are covering it all up. estory

Our government is attempting to control everything we do. I am not happy about this and will resist as much as I can. Thank you for sharing this well written poem with us.

Thanks for the excellent review and for your perspective on the piece. I am actually just as worried about companies like Alphabet and Apple and Microsoft as I am about the government. It's all about the benjamins...estory

Much like so many lament the youth of today being glued to their smartphones, we have been "programmed" (excuse the pun) to gaze at the television or online and mindlessly take in what is spoon-fed to us in little bites, until we no longer ponder the discernment of our own taste buds.

In a perversion of thought it seems WE become artificial intelligence when we cease to question, speak out, or think for ourselves.

This is as frightening as it is true.

Thanks for the excellent review and your insightful comments and perspective on the piece. I think you got exactly what i was trying to say. If we don't keep questioning what's being said, by whom and why, we end up like drones in a coccoon of their making. Manipulated into compliance. It is scary. Glad the poem hit hard, I wasn't sure about how hard hitting it was. estory

a powerful and moving poem about the machines that control our reality and shape our perceptions of reality but who and what controls the machnes? reminds me of the Frank Zappa song, I am the slime

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed and deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I'm the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I'm the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help, no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks
Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, look at me go
I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, look at me go

I wasn't familiar with that song but it does say pretty much the same thing about these concerns I raised in the poem. We have become clay in the hands of those who control the media, we accept what's said on social media and tv as gospel, without questioning it. That's a problem, I think. estory

Thanks for the excellent review and I find this tool here that keeps trying to anticipate what I want to write kind of annoying. I can write for myself. Makes you wonder how much AI is being used to create things...estory

Hi, friend, I notice you've posted another poem in your series about media and the machine.

In this post, you flip us from scene to scene where they are showing things they want us to see through their own jaded lenses.

Thanks for sharing,
Rhonda

We are living in a simulation, my friend. These are all generated by machines, nothing is real. Your brain has tricked you. I'm more and more convinced.

Well done.
