Hello :)
I really enjoyed reading your short story.
It's well written and engaging.
I'm glad that Amy left the Doctor's office with a smile on her face, I wonder if she was still smiling after Dolly still wouldn't say 'Mama' after being hugged and talked to all day!
Congratulations on your 2nd place finish in the contest.
Best wishes, Debra

Thank you very much, Debra. I am delighted you enjoyed the story. I, too, wonder what she will say when the doll doesn?t speak. Rod

Well, this story certainly made me smile. I think you captured the child's dialogue and innocence perfectly. I really like Dr. Adams, as well. He seems to be a wise and loving man with a clear understanding of a child's belief. Loren

Thank you, Loren, for the praise of my characters. But Rockwell deserves the most credit. He put them on canvas. Rod

Good entry for the 100 Word Story writing prompt contest. It's so sweet, the best one this time.

The story grabbed my interest. The idea is unique and entertaining. Well done.

Good luck in the contest.

That's all very cute! Love the dialogue and the hug-a-me condition. A fine message in your well expressed flash! Well done for containing it so neatly in this limited word form. Good luck! Debbie

Oh, dear, what happens when she gets her dolly home, hugs, smiles, and talks to it, then it still does not say mama. I guess Amy goes back to the doctor for another answer.

Cute entry and picture for this 100-word story. Did you write the story using the Rockwell as a prompt?

Good luck with the contest.

Pam

Very touching story. It's so true that innocent children bring light into our life, they are so creative and unexpected. Luckily the good doctor found a reassuring 'cure' for Dolly!
Good luck with the contest!!!

You gave life to a noted Norman Rockwell painting. Reminds me of my daughter. We were potty training her with a doll, Prudence, that came with a video. She took the doll everywhere and it soon became dirty and torn. We told her the doll had to go to the hospital but would return. Then I ran out and purchased another one.

I don't mean to always talk so much about myself. It's YOUR work that is praiseworthy!

Wow, this is a very cute story and I love the cure:) "She has a bad case of hug-a-me. You take her home, hug her close all day and talk to her!"
Thank you so much for sharing and good luck with your writings and the contest.

I love your artwork and story to go with it. It is creative and well written. Excellent use of dialogue between the doctor and the little girl. I like how you characterize him as a caring person who understands children and how important their concerns are, even if it is about her doll.

He has a caring approach when examining the doll and even gives a diagnosis, which is very positive. An excellent ending. Good luck in the contest. You have a great entry!!

Thank you for the great review of my story, Pam. Most of the credit should go to Rockwell as the doctor he painted seems to be the kind/concerned type you describe.

You are very welcome, and I agree that a lot of meaning comes from a picture. But then we put it into another form that is also creative.
