This is an excellent and beautiful poem for Sally. She is one of a kind, one in a zillion, a beautiful authentic spirit. I consider her a friend too. God Bless her and help her bright spirit shine through her precious eyes to see the beauty as we all see her beauty. I enjoyed reading this Your entire presentation is good. Jess, what a beautiful job of describing the plight of a woman losing her vision (Sally) and how she refuses to let that dim her view of life. In fact, it seems to have sharpened her perceptions, and she has compensated for the loss, which is only a loss if you look at it that way, rather than simply a change.
What little she may still see is enough to inspire her to use her imagination to fill in the blanks. Hers is a marvelous story of resilience that you have captured in your poem. It makes me think of my own loss of my ability to play golf, but my life is as or more fulfilling because my love of writing has been able to replace it.
That's the way to proceed with your life. As they say, when one door closes, another opens. Thanks for the beautiful reminder of this with your wonderful poem.
