Introspective on perspective.
Is a huge canvas to paint on.
And you left all open for the reader to fall down all the rabbit holes.
Poor Alice...
Look where she found her queen of hearts.
I liked the Cheshire cat.

Ah, the introspective on perspective detective!
It's just a little poem on what to keep in mind when we think we're in Dire Straits. Why Worry?
    Thanks, Z :)

I appreciate how you often write in first person. You don't do it always, but you seem to know when it adds depth to your words. Your poem is particularly true to me. My dad had this thing about the color. For some reason, he always found it depressing. Guess that was his rightful perspective. We could not have the first thing blue in the kitchen or dining room because it bothered his digestion.
Guess I should have written this poem. I like it.

I think sometimes I bite off more than I can chew. I was aiming to get across the idea that situations that arise are often not all good or all bad, or as much of either as they seem. So, depending on our viewpoint, the same event could be seen with foreboding (blue mood) or anticipation (blue skies). Trying to convey that in four lines is probably wildly optimistic.

As always, your comments are a delight to read, Debbie. Thanks so much for them, and the lovely rating :)

This poem conjures up some great images and you are right it does all depend upon your perspective but then doesn't everything including poetry. You have included the correct number of syllables per line for the contest so, hopefully, you will do well in it. Good luck

It all depends on the state of mind. But, for me, if the sky is not blue, then the mind often is. Well done with your four-line poem Craig, well thought out.
Good luck in the contest.
cheers,

Don't you just hate how creative writers usurped almost every colour for their own purposes? All I have to say is, that is our job, because we have that perspective, especially when there's a little green involved too.

Very well done, and an appealing presentation too.

Wishing you great luck with the Committee. :)

It really makes me see red when they do that. It was a black day when writers started taking over the palette. Orange you in agreement?

OK, sorry about that last one.

Thanks for the wonderful comments and lovely stars, Gloria :)

Very cleverly composed, and you are right. Attitude and perspective are everything. The presentation is perfect. Succinct, thoughtful, thought-provoking and memorable. May well be a winner. Sending best wishes that it is.

So true! Our perspective can make us feel "blue" or direct our view UP to enjoy the blue of the sky. Great final summary line and great use of internal rhyme and assonance. Best wishes in the contest!

The poem is a beautiful four-verse piece that skillfully uses syllables and presents different perspectives on the color blue.

This four-line poem, Blue, has the proper formatting and finds the term blue can be used in various ways to describe both what is seen as well as what is felt.
