That movie still freaks me out but the book was awesome. It's funny how the book affected me differently. The movie scenes were meant to scare, but the book was fear unleashed and not having the power to stop reading. Your poem made a chill run down my spine. I'm not going to lie. It reminded me of the unhinged Jack. Great job. Gretchen

This is an interesting twist on a classic book for the club. Thanks for your notes of explanation, which helped me understand this better. I could sense the fear in your lines about icy trepidation, dry mouth, and thundering heartbeat. NIce job. Blessings. Carol

Wow, yes, you've certainly captured the horror and fear that Wendy would have experienced in that situation! It's really quite a work of art that you've obviously enjoyed writing, unusual in its format but very effective in its message. Well done! A great entry for the club! Debbie

Good luck with 'Finding your Muse' a little bit of trivia. Stephen King was found wandering the side of the road, he is bipolar. The Shining had me on the edge of the seat. One scary horror movie. The old movies are the best. Ones today are rubbish for the uninitiated. Best wishes, Kay.

Hi Kitty
This poem uses linbraks an lune length to express the excitement and fear in the plot of a horror book. I am not a horror fan so I have never seen or read The Shining. I stopped with Stephen King after reading and seeing Cujo.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a nice evening.

As I've often said, when it comes to poetry, I wouldn't know a sonnet from sorbet. But as a Stephen King fan you certainly captured the extreme trapped feelings of fear. Thanks for sharing.

I have read a lot of Stephen King's novels. He and I were at the University of Maine at the same time. I never read The Shining, but I saw the movie. King is one of a kind.

You did a good job of capturing The Shining Stephen King's famous book and movie.
This captures the fear and depredation of finding out that you are a prisoner until Spring.
Thanks for joining the club Muse.

I've read a couple of books of Stephen King, it seemed at the time he write in the first person, as your very interesting poem appears to do. This would be a fantastic work to be read out loud, a terrific write. Beautifully written, blessings, Roy
