Very nicely done, Melissa.
September
Our nation's schools now open up their doors,
And kids lament how short the summer's been.
The farmer now gets ready for more chores -
Preparing for the winter once again.
The nights are cooling down. An early frost
Is possible. We watch the clouds and moon.
We're careful that our crops will not be lost
If Jack decides to visit us too soon.
The birds will start to think of southward flight.
The young ones must be ready to take wing.
But some birds, for the winter, will sit tight.
And hunker down to wait for blush of spring.
The day and night are equal one more time,
The sun is still descending from its climb.

Aaahhh. I love your verse about the changing seasons and the return of a routine to our lives. Thank you for commenting on mine, Paul.

Six stars for adhering to a hard form! I had to go look up amphibrach. This is a well-done entry for faith. I like the lines: God's music of faithfulness beckons to me;
and also: it chases the chill.
and also the concluding couplet. Good luck in that contest!

This poem is so fresh and pleasing Melissa, I want to bathe in your poem and feel alive. Wonderful rhymes but mainly the metre gives this poem such a superb melody, it has to be a six, a skilful poem from a talented pen Melissa, a joy to read, love Dolly x

A lovely response to the prompt. Never heard of 'amphibrach', you clever person! Your rhyming and rhythm are assured and unforced and this makes for a rather beautiful poem. Well done and good luck in the contest.
