Very clever, finding your conveyance to the point, illustrating a clear thinking mind. Well spoken, heard its views, having to yet realize it's profound depths. All in my given opinion.

I know chess but do not understand what "pushing the pawn" means. I'll look it up. Otherwise I understand what you mean. Sometimes one must sacrifice.
As for the the trials of life being like a game of chess it could be said that even when life isn't a trial, decisions must be make.
Love the rhyme and overall sentiment of this poem. It does ring so very true.
I always joke that if life is a game, let it be tic-tac-toe. The best choice is to not play the game at all.
Great job and best wishes.

I like how you compared life to a game of chess. It would not be the first time, but you seem to put something different on the table. It is all about what choices you make and where you move your piece. The same goes with life and you must make each move with the thoughts of your final outcome.

I did enjoy reading this short poem. I like the idea of comparing life to a game of chess and actually understood the last line, although I am a very bad chess player I do enjoy it. The rhyming and rhythm are good in this poem too so I wish you all the best in the contest

I like this poem very much and the simile is quite well-chosen. I wonder if the third line might read better as "Sometimes it's clear, sometimes a guess". To my ear that sounds a little less cluttered. Either way this is a great entry for the contest. Good luck!

Thanks, Ben. That's a great suggestion, but the meter would not be the same.

Like this succinct entry. Life is like a game of chess. True so true. Like the image and wording. Especially love the last two lines. Well done. Take care and have a great day.

Yes, this is a good entry for the - This is my life - writing prompt.
It is short and succinct with a strong message of just getting on with life while making the right decisions as best one can. Nothing else needs to be said or waffled on about. Well done and best of luck in the competition.

This is very nice and tight. The picture is great as well. Your ideas were explained in a forthright manner needing no explaining. Good work. These small poems take more work than large ones.

Loved the metaphor of chess in your poem. And your note is equally thought-provoking that there are no "grand masters in the game of life." So much of life is walking with eyes closed and in prayer.
Best wishes in the contest!

nicely done poem about life's decisions. I like the image and the metaphor of life being like a game of chess filled with decisions to make including when to sacrifice the queen

Thanks, Jake. I'd have to think long and hard about sacrificing my queen, But I suppose that situation might pop up.
