    You are not alone in being unfamiliar with the subject; most people who practice the faith are also unfamiliar with the deep philosophical themes. If you wish to know more about it them read Late Joseph Campbell's books on Mythologies of different cultures and faiths. I appreciate your thoughtful comments. The use of Hindu mythological references adds depth and spirituality to the poem. The poem's structure, with its three distinct sections, lets readers go through different aspects of this cosmic journey.
