How very sad this is, that snake could have killed the occupants of the house too! I think I would try and make my house snake proof. Thank you for sharing your sad story with us, I enjoyed your tale Cass, love Dolly x

This is a so sad story about this poor little cat! It's very lucky that the snake didn't attack your mother as well.
Your poem is very beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this text.

dear sarita, thank you for your review and the five stars. This is a true story although it happened many years ago.1946 just after WW2,my mother was nearly full term with her seventh child. It was deeply traumatic for everyone. cheers Cass

I know Lake Albert, it's part of the Murray river system, Meningie township is on its banks. Yes brown snakes can be a menace, they get into suburban yards and can kill one's pets. Beautifully written Cass, this poem is so well written, marvellous job, blessings Roy

A very well-written piece that tells a sad tale with eloquence. I so feel for that poor cat, and for your Mother too, as seeing something like this is traumatizing. I had a similar experience. I came upon a snake (though it wasn't venomous) in the process of trying to eat my dove. My stomach turns every time I think of it, even though it was ages ago. It was a traumatizing sight for me.

Oh, what a terrible story. I am a massive cat lover who has recently lost my own little furry baby, but under much more civilised circumstances peacefully at the vet's. It's never easy to lose a loved pet, but to experience something this violent would be so, so distressing.

dear navada, thank you for your review and the five stars. The vet experience is far diffferent from the way Puss died.(I've had a fair share of them too).Mum rarely spoke of this day, but she told me she recalled "a lovely peaceful feeling " coming over her as she laid
Puss in her last bed. She owned up to even saying a prayer for her. When I praised her for doing that she said "she was only doing the right thing."cheers Cass
