Your 8 line free verse represents a little stream of consciousness as the author resolves not to hang on to a negative grudge that can only fester. By letting it pass, it allows for light to come in and love to be sustained. This is an excellent entry for the contest! Good luck! Debbie

While forgiveness is a complicated thing, this poem is a little confusing. Not that great poems can't be; life often reduces to a series of enigmas. More to the point: the poem uses language that might suggest a love relationship, but it's more likely a relationship between child and adult. However, adults don't have a bond as transparent as glass with children; it's remarkable when this can be achieved with an adult. The address,"little man," very much suggests something spoken to a child, as does loving someone "more than anyone can," an impossible feat. I think this poem evolved moment to moment, and it reveals an intensity of feeling that doesn't find the impressive means necessary to express this quantity of feeling. I know we tell our children impossible things in the interest of keeping them happy within the challenges of life, but this poem really says little about the genuine act of forgiveness.

To clarify your confusion, this poem is about a love relationship. I called him a little man because he is rather petite. I thought it illustrated that forgiveness makes you a better person. However, I respect your right to your opinion. Thank you for your review.
