I liked the perspective and the picture. Interesting and clear. It was the clarity along the story and the punch at the end I liked most. Duplo....I remember giving my youngest that to play with - great imagery!

It is a shame this one did not win. My own daughter is two and she mimics the looks of her siblings. Even if she doesn't know why or what for, if they are upset so is she. It is the first stages of empathy, but also just as you described, they don't understand. I'm glad this one was humorous at the end.

Okay then! I was unprepared and wondering what horrible trauma this little darling had experienced when you took that adorable turn, and I was happy to see it was those costumes that frightened Lindy!

Congrats on your recognition for this entry. It has just the right touch of charm and terror...with a smile at the end!

Thank you very much, dear Karenina! Such a lovely review. This was my granddaughter, and despite all prior explanations, she was still terrified. After all, no two-year-old really understands what a ghost could look like, or not be afraid of a close-up lion!!
Many thanks too for the congratulations.

Halloween does bring lots of people dressed up in costumes and disguised. Do we laugh or cry? I have never liked haunted houses. This story sounds like a mother who liked haunted rooms instead; and transformed her children into something other than a human being.

Lol. Both times for special events, the result of much pleading. Many thanks for reviewing. I always appreciate it.

I liked this concept. Children definitely have unusual perspectives and see the world through their own unique logic. I can remember terrifying incidents from my childhood that made me resonate with this. Good luck for the contest.

Thank you very much Navada. Even after an explanation beforehand, a two-year-old has no idea about what a ghost is or looks like. Great review.

It is good to these family terror stories don't involve any real abuse and one Lindy knows more what is going on she will come to accept this things as part of a normal family life. Little kids can't possible understand what to be afraid of an what is not an occasion to panic.

I enjoyed reading this, but I felt it didn't quite grab my attention, and it felt like a much older person narrating the story, rather than a two-year-old. One way how you could really tell it in, is using the way how a child speaks and sees things. At the moment it doesn't feel as though we are inside her head, it feels like we are observing what is happening to her, and if you looked at trying to write the piece this way, it would make it really good, but of course, that's just my opinion.

For a child, unable to quite understand the language yet, there must be several fearful happenings. You used the contest, through the eyes of a child, perfectly. When I see young toddlers from now on, I shall try to see what they see. Well done, and good luck! :) Sandra xx

I can easily see and feel the fear and wonderment from s little child's perspective. Halloween and other costumed occasions can definitely be confusing to a little one.
Thanks for sharing this experience with us and good luck in the contest,

Poor little girl. I remember having to dress up for a work Halliween party. When I came out with my face painted, my little boy ran and hid from me. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. This was a great story. Good luck in the contest. Gretchen

Thank you very much Gretchen. Lovely review. One can explain it to a small child but ? what does a "ghost" mean to 2 yr olds until they actually see it? Yes, very scary then, and totally outside any past experience. Thanks too for the good wishes.
