I say hooray for you. You have done this very well and I loved your notes at the end. It seems that there are so many who want to put you down for what you write. I to choose what I want to write and if people don't like it that's their problem not mine. Keep writing and keep sharing. Somehow I missed this when it came across something on the 27th so I'm now reviewing it. Have a blessed day. Patricia.

Many thanks Patricia. In my opinion such topics as these can still be extremely well written. It?s not appropriate for people to generalise it all as "sappy crap". Thanks again.

I respect a poet who expresses whatever it is inside that is anxious to be said. The topic really does not matter when the result generated is an excellent poem. Everyone has different tastes and that is a good thing to appreciate.

Thank you very much. Recently someone said he would have to write about sappy crap such as friends, love and pets to win a contest. I thought that was rather demeaning about those who choose to do so. Many thanks for reviewing.

Writing is ultimate freedom, especially if you pen something anonymously.
You can pick any subject or topic. I actually quite enjoy your lighter side
I was asked in a radio interview what was the point of writing. I said to elicit emotion. Good. Bad. Sad. Happy? No. Any.
My two cents. Write what your heart tells you to. To date, it has been spot on.

Thank you. A most encouraging review. I do, and will continue to do so. Someone wrote recently about such subjects being "sappy crap". A bit of a generalisation I thought, and also quite demeaning. Whatever the topic, it is quality that counts.

I understand your point of view. My own writing covers a spectrum from light to dark and lots of things in between. The key thing is to learn and improve and explore new and different ideas.

Exactly. Topics are the choice of the writer, and no one should put others down because of what they choose to write about. A generalisation to say certain topics are "sappy crap" (regardless of the quality of the writing) is not appropriate.

Whatever the theme we choose, it's always in the best interest of the writer. I know today I wrote about mistakes. How can we correct them? That is one topic I should ignore. Like your poem and what you wrote in the author's comments.

Thank you very much for your understanding review. I don?t like to see others putting people down because of what they choose to write about. Many thanks.

No subject is off limits on Fanstory and we are free to write about all subjects and if your family, friends and pets are close to your heart then write about them. Writing experts always state that you should write what you know, I enjoyed your fine words of advice here, love Dolly x x x

Thanks Dolly. For me I don't really care - I just write what and when I wish to, and on my choice of subjects. But I know others have been upset by such labelling as "sappy crap" just because it's on those themes, and without regard to the sometimes excellent quality of their work.

This is a good message, and you have the twenty-five syllables the contest requires. As for the cynics. Why care? All of us on FanStory should remember we chose to go public with our works. We chose to not only ask for pay for people to subjectively review our works. It's art, and some criticism will be positive, some negative (sometimes the negatives are more honest than the positives, and more valuable too). This is real life. A life we adults choose to put ourself out into. The comments, like all speech, words, or such only has an effect on our emotions if let them.

Thank you, Lancellot. Yes, exactly. While for me such comments are water off a duck's back (I really don't care what people say or think) others do get hurt, and really it's unnecessary to rubbish people for the topics they choose, regardless of the quality of the writing. And you are right - some of the negative reviews are helpful.

I hope you continue to not care what others may comment sarcastically about. Love, friends, and pets offer the gentler side of life. There's an appalling level of doom, gloom, and hatred in the world. Keep those warm fuzzies coming!

Just read an entry in one of the contests which was quite disparaging about such topics. For me, it's water off a duck's back, but others may well be hurt. Love, friends and pets are a big and beautiful part of my life, and for the lives of many. Thanks for a super review.

You deserve a "6" just for your notes. Hope you can revive them sometime for a "rant contest". Remember, our God is a creative God. He gave us free minds and a curiosity and a brain to exercise our own creativity. You decide where you will go and what you will write. Whether you made the right decision is not for man to say, but God.

Thank you very much Jim. For me, such comments are like water off a duck's back, but some people are hurt by them. After all friends, pets and love are surely a big and beautiful part of our daily lives. Much appreciated review!
