Wow! That young girl was so lucky to meet the author of this story, a person with compassion who gave away the coat she was wearing 'Lord, I loved that coat.' Generosity and compassion won out.

Thank you Zanya for your kind words. I think many would have done the same.

Hello Charlene,
I'm sending a six your way both because of the content of the story and the great way that you presented it. Compassion, at times, seems to be lacking in the world in which we live. I find myself slipping in to a warm, comfortable bed at night, in a nice house and a safe neighborhood and thinking about those who don't even have a home to live in, much less a warm bed. I wonder what they're doing. I don't want to be enabling people who exercise bad behavior and are experiencing the consequences of that behavior, but I can't turn my back on those in need either. This little girl, through no fault of her own, was suffering. I'm pleased that you were moved with compassion and actually put your conviction to work. No act of kindness is ever forgotten by the Lord. We can't rescue everyone, but we can all help some.
Have a blessed day gal.

Congratulations on your fiftieth post, Charlene. This was a great story. I hope the mother didn't take the coat for herself. I am a terrible cynic.
