What a lovely and informative poem about the elephant family structure. What a model for human families it could be. It's a shame my own family ties are not strong. But like an elephant, I don't forget. I don't usually care for free verse poetry, but your poem is very beautiful.

It did mention what format so I went with a free-style poem with some rhyme here and there.
The gestation is so long to allow the brain to develop sufficiently before birth.
Did you watch the video below ? I'm going to watch "Leon" tomorrow afternoon (biggrin)

Of course, because I didn't write about my family.
We were strangers most of our lives and I presumed it was supposed to be a poem about LOVE seen in a positive light.
I prefer to talk about animals.
