Hi Melissa,
These words tell a truth we often forget or take for granted. We don't think that we have a new chance to become the person we want to be.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contest.
Merry Christmas.
Joan

The new year does bring new beginnings. But are we talking about Baby Jesus here ... Is he being celebrated by the world? Joseph and Mary finally did accept that they were having a newborn son, who's name would be Jesus!

The New Year! Married on the eve, it was our first day of marriage, so long ago. Father Time had since ushered in many such New Years till it was my wife's time to go, not so long after New Year's last year.

I honestly will be glad to see 2023 pass. I have had problems in 2023 pancreatitis in March. I have gallbladder removed in May. I fell broke my hip and my pelvis in July and I had Covid in September so looking forward to that new beginning with the start in the new year. Patricia.

I like this theme and image very much. Time marches inexorably forwards and while sometimes we wish it wouldn't, there are other times where we need Time's help as a healer. Thanks for the share.

This is a hopeful and encouraging piece that beautifully reminds us of the new opportunities to start afresh that God gives us through the beginning of a new year. May we use these opportunities wisely! Lovely write.

This is my favorite so far in the contest. It's fitting for the season, makes good use of the syllable count and subtle metaphor. It could definitely be a winner!

I think most of us hope that we can make a brand new start in the new year although many fail to do this. I hope that everyone reads your little poem and is encouraged to have a fresh beginning. Good luck.
