Nice picture. Good writing, the font shows your playful side. I just heard from Jessiezero that she just got out of the hospital, I had not known she went in. Read Jim Wile's story on his 50th anniversary, he had me laughing out loud for 3 whole minutes! Karen

This lovely flash reminds me of a dog I've come to know:) But his owner is a good match for him and has made a very commendable start to his water training. No doubt even up to his knees in water is very welcome when temperatures are raised. Excellent and a strong contender! Debbie

Rescued animals make wonderful pets and companions. My kitty was a stray I took in and she is a different looking thing from the little walking skeleton she used to be. I am so glad you now have this faithful and brave little dog to share your life.

Wow!! That's a seriously big deal. And how perfect that it occurred on the anniversary of the day he was adopted. Dogs have the BEST hearts. We humans really don't deserve them. They are so much better creatures on this earth than we are.

Good luck with this in the polls. It's a thoroughly heartwarming tail...er, I mean TALE!! (like what I did there, Mystery Writer?...) xo

Yes, for him, a huge deal to overcome terror. And hence a huge deal for me too as I paws(!) to reflect on it. I love your review and your play on words!

As you paws...and then you tell me you like MY play on words? I am a comparative amateur! xoxo

Thank you very much for this lovely review. I was so pleased to see his tentative steps despite his fear because he wanted to be near me. I knew how hard it was for him when normally he is terrified.

Dogs usually like the water. Have you ever tried throwing a stick into the creek or river? Evidently, he doesn't like it when he gets his body or his feet in water. Like your story tho.

He won't chase a stick into water. Never. I have come across a few dogs like him now. He trembles violently even for a warm bath, runs away from hoses or sprinklers. So I was amazed and delighted to see him take some tentative steps in order to be closer to me.

This is a nice story. The emotion you portray for that dog, plus your author's notes highlighting that you adopted and adore him is refreshing, especially during this time of year. They are truly man's best friend, loving unconditionally.

A cute poem - and a cute dog - and a lovely message contained in its excellent prose. Amazing to get all this into fifty words. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Our dog Buddy, had a water phobia, but he loved Elaine so much he preferred to be with her even in water, he would brave his fear just to be with her, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I thought this was a fun story. I love stories about animals, dogs in particular. It had a beginning, a middle, and an end. You told a whole story in fifty words. Impressive. Good luck in the contest.
