What an interesting and unusual tree. It stands bent over and crooked, but you gave it life and purpose. It greets the dawn and salutes the world. Very creative. Best wishes in the contest.

I enjoyed your Haiku made about the interesting tree in the photo. I like the way you personified ir as a soldier giving a salute. Very creative. Good luck in the contest,

Your haiku really shows the scene. Great picture choice and 5 7 5 syllabi is perfect. The only thing I can suggest for future haiku be careful not to use too many adjectives .

I thought this was so creative. The "crooked arm salute" adds a personality to the tree! Making it feel alive. How wonderfully unique this is. Great job.

This is a memorable haiku. The word 'gnarly' carries a sense of the auditory as well as the visual. I like the alliteration in your poem whereby you run the 's' sound through the lines. Your sense of humour adds to the piece and the match between the poem and the picture is spot on. A very enjoyable read.

Love this 5-7-5 poem on this tree that indeed appears to be standing tall In a saluting pose. Wonder if FanStory has a Nature 5-7-5 poem concept contest that would be fun. Thanks for Sharing your poetic thoughts with this writing. Blessings

That is so interesting and does look like a soldier's arm saluting. I've never heard of this tree. This is an excellent Haiku for the contest, and it is supported by that awesome photo. Thank you for sharing this. Thank you for sharing this.

Lovely Haiku, lovely imagery of the tree and pic you have chosen. Good use of the word gnarly too. I like the anthropomorphism here - although having looked at the tree in this light I can only see a soldier with really big hair!
Well done - great 2nd place.
Best wishes

Thank you so much for your kind review on the gnarly trees. I see the tree in the photograph when I go out for my walk along the one of the streets in the town where I live.

My pleasure! How wonderful to see something with so much character on your daily routine.

Congratulations, Patricia. This is a good example of personification, simile, and hyperbole. Also alliteration of the 's' sound and end rhyme with strong and dawn. With all those poetic devices, no wonder you won.

Love the gnarly trees, they have such character and you've shown their strength in your Haiku. Standing up against nature's winds to keep on growing.liked the 'crooked arm salute' to fish with. Nice one Patricia
