I read love lost, yet the yearning for the that love is still very strong. I could feel as I read this contest entry. Thank you for sharing this entry with us. Good luck with the contest.

Omigoodness!! What an excellent job you did with this reworking of that old classic tune. I'm a music teacher, so I am particularly cognizant of rhythms and meters and rhymes, and all of these are spot-on. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to check this out today! Best of luck to you in the Love Poem Poetry Contest!! xo

Thank you so very much. It is an honor to be praised by you as I am a musician as well, so I doubly appreciate it. I am so glad that you checked it out as well. I am going to send you another revision rewrite of a famous American popular song shortly and I will be eager to hear what you think. Thank you so much! Regards from Gerard.

Hi Gerard,
This is is a well written love poem uses repetition and questions to figure out what to do with a relationship where love seems to be fading. Is there a way to revive it? It seems to end in a prayer for understands and reunion.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contest,
Have a great day.
Joan

This is sad and beautiful. My favoite line is "Please bring back the we". It is easy to enjoy drifting along, in love. We forget that that luscious river needs to be fed and nurtured, or it will dry up. Well done.

Dolly, go back and read it again and put on Sondheims " Send In The Clowns". It was originally written as a challenge to lyrics to it at a cash bar one night. Tell me what you think if you sing it. Regards and affection GK

This is very nicely done for the challenge that you were given. I've appreciate the work, and I wished you the very best with all of your writing. I see that you are relatively new to this site and I wish to welcome you. Patricia.

Yes, I recently sang it aloud to Sondheim and I was rather pleased that the cadence and feeling were really there. It was a healthy exercise to see if it could be done and that lyric helped me along quite a bit. Thank you and be safe in an unsafe world. Regards, GK
