Ah, I am glad I came to visit and found this -- I have only two sixes left this week though. I am late reviewing (and a six can't help to promote it to the front page at this late date) but it deserves that rating, Bill.

Make sure I know when you post again -- I know your writing and like a few others here, you don't write a thing that isn't outstanding. Post soon! I am reviewing a lot lately! (*smile*)

Very well done. Such total impending doom, yet still searching for hope. I voted for this in the contest. I thought it was very impactful. I can't even imagine being in this situation. Thanks for sharing! Julie.

Thanks. I'm still on a learning curve. I didn't know that I didn't have to "promote" this. But I'm glad I did. -Bill

This is, in my opinion, an excellently written piece. Unfortunately, I do not have any sixes left! Don't we always want tomorrow and then we remember tomorrow never comes. All we ever have is today. Thanks for writing. ann

This is a great 100-word piece. It tells an entire story. And it conveys the Marine's true self. (At least I think so.) You should fare well in the contest.
Good luck.

William,

Welcome to Fanstory! Congrats on your 3rd place win in the 100 Word Story contest. You have written a short but powerful story of the most important gift a soldier fighting in a War would ask for. Hope - to live another day and to return from the War alive. Well done.

All the best,

Eugene

I suppose I would have requested the same. My step father was a Marine and was wounded in the Korea War. I'm sure he felt the same. It was was close brush with death from what I gathered. Well penned in 100 words. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thanks, Sally, for the review. Your step-father probably has nightmares from time to time.

This is a touching story. Men and women in the military during war time live on a daily basis with the threat of death hanging over their head. That changes a person psychologically. Asking for another day when facing death is a powerful and sincere request. Your short story is thought-provoking. Best wishes in the contest.

I have nothing to say, your lines said it all: "The war correspondent, interviewing a Marine said to him philosophically,

"If I were God, and I could give you anything you wanted, what would you ask for?"

Knowing that the odds of survival from this battle were bleak, he said without hesitation,

"I would want you to give me tomorrow."". Thank you for sharing and good luc k with the contest.

Your short and detailed story is full of emotion. We don't know what tomorrow holds, but if we know God, we know who holds our tomorrows. Sometimes a new day is the best we can hope for. Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes in the contest.

A very wise choice. We need to operate with much more thought than we do. Your correspondent asked a perfect question. You described their outlook quite well. Writing an entire story in only 100 words is difficult. I wish you well on the contest. Karen
