Very well done and informative! For most of us, I'm betting we have similar challenges - just different ones -- and similar compulsions to write. It is good to have someone so clearly outline it for us. ann

I had been a water colour artist and poetess...well, forever.. Every so often I write stories..
I am fascinated by other peoples lives... Yours for example, which is so very different than mine, felt good to know about. My father was also a wonderful story teller...
Glad to hear that at the age of 66 your are feeling well and pursuing your dreams.
I will be 76 in February...I too am very healthy..no meds... I did have a new knee placed two weeks ago...not my most favourite experience.
I grew up in So. California... My husband Bob and I moved full to to Spain 4 years ago... a real adventure... Love it here.
Great that you have written 6 books..wow...amazing..

I'm so glad to meet you, and so glad you've joined FanStory. It is worth all the work, as I'm sure you've found out. It's also a great community where people can support you beyond writing.
Ouch on the knee replacement. My sister had a hip replacement a couple of years ago. Though she went through a lot of pain with it, she's is now so much more mobile than she had been!!

It is true that if you mention something that isn't common knowledge or words not everyone used regularly. Put the information in you author notes. Also I'm glad you stress who beneficial this site can me to those who want to be better writers.

I'm not sure how we haven't crossed paths yet. I did take off a few years, too. I would pop in now and then and review, do a few contests, but just wasn't engaged until I decided to be intentional with it.

The next paragraph is very good, giving them an idea of who you are and how the site is a valuable part of your life. I like your closing paragraphs, as well, especially the quote about good writers. "Maintaining balance" is also a very good piece of advice. Very well done.

Hi Pam, and thank you for your detailed response. I actually looked back and found I had been a member since 2010, but I know I wasn?t active for a while. When I did get back on, I had almost forgotten about the site, so I think I came on just before you.

Mark, welcome back! I, also, had a bit of a sabbatical. It was really hard to get back in the routine. I not only thought my muse had gone on strike, but had pulled up stakes and moved to another planet.
I?m glad I sought her out and returned. You will be, too!

Love your words. I have been here since 2009 and can relate to your busy schedule. Like you I work full time and had been taking care of my disabled husband. Fanstory has also been for me, a driving force that has taught me much. It is definitely the ride of a lifetime.

Hi mermaids. I don?t know if our paths have crossed before, but they must have since we?ve both been on this site for long, but I?m glad they have now!
I figured there would be others who could relate to my situation. Busy people seem to write for their own mental health, lol.
I think the key is driving force. It certainly is for me.

Jay Squires called the long paragraphs "A Wall of Words." I thought his description was very visual. And I changed how I wrote the stories.
