Mama's Footsteps

Are we really so different--mothers and daughters?

Interesting thoughts about mother and daughters. The things we learn from our mothers and pass down to our daughters are always with us.
No matter where we move to ~ no mater our path.
As we get older we seem to find more and more connections.
Yes, we might pursue different dreams, but as you said you are bound in similarities... good and bad...

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Lisaview. I appreciate your feedback. (Sorry for the late reply. I've just now recovered from two back-to-back sicknesses: occupational hazard of being a teacher--and not one I would trade for the world.) Thank you again for reading.

Oh gosh not worries about being tardy in a response to me... Many of the ones I review never ever respond..so sad...
By the way I won for two contest yesterday..seldom happens.. One was "You'll Never Believe what Happened in Walmart!" and the other was Sounds of War...

Thank you for saying that. That is sad. I try to respond to all my reviewers, as I appreciate them commenting on my stories and poems whenever I'm able to post. That's fantastic! Congrats.

The sad thing is that many never ever review...and many never vote... but i do because I read and review like you do...

I used to read without reviewing, but since I've begun posting my stories, I understand the other side of the situation, and I want to encourage and inspire other writers to improve their skills.

Yes, reviewing is important from one writer to another.

Time to leave California and come back to Minnesota, I say. lol. Seriously, a delightfully introspective free verse juxtaposition of two lives. You brought it together in very interesting ways.

This is a beatiful tribute to your mother and an exploration of your connection. It's funny how we often strive so hard to be our own person when we're younger, only to recognise and embrace our similarities later in life. :)

Love these lines: "Two women--alike but different, as is the case with mothers and daughters.

Perhaps there's truth in the old proverb: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Yes I agree the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'd say that about my wife just as much as I'd say that for Fathers too.
Thanks for putting it Smile on my face as I read and rated your poetic post on Mothers

Very nice tribute to the mother daughter relationship and their lives. The second and third lines are a bit confusing. Not sure if you meant the two were born in different countries or they were born in different states.

No problem. I was a teacher, principal, and superintendent. Now retired. Loved it. Despite some parents.

Wow! My hat goes off to you!!!! I've been pretty fortunate with my parents, but I've also been blessed with great students. Although there are some that are challenging in the moment, they end up becoming my special reminders of why I became a teacher.

This is a really interesting way to do a comparison between two people, a parallel between mother and daughter. It also serves as a lovely tribute to your mother! You celebrate the similarities and you celebrate the differences.
Thank you for sharing! Julie
