And they went on to live happily ever after, but they had that one puppy who never fit. Oh, that's me. Please check this line: Superdog" is here" scoot your quotation mark over. What a wonderfully written story. Good luck in the contest!

Have a great day, and God bless.

This is funny and clever. I love the ending where Superdog and Princess appear to have "eloped."
The descriptions of stumbling out of bed were perfect.
Your imagination and humor never disappoint me.
Best of luck in the contest.

I am terribly behind in my reviewing.
Hubby's disease takes most of my time; even though he can get around, he does things like trying to get me up at 2am, thinking I am only taking a nap. I spend most of my day with him. The other reason is my hands get very painful after typing for a short time.

This is a funny story! I wonder if there is such a thing as a peeping tomcat, too? I was wondering why the A.S.P.C.A. would be making house calls. I thought they just did a business asking for mail-in donations. I think the only thing I would suggest changing other than that is maybe take the quotation marks off of Superdog, if that was the given name. It sounds like the dog was a regular Romeo.

I did indeed have an extra quotation mark as noted and corrected, and changed ASPCA to Animal Control. I appreciate your review.
    Thank you.

Sweet looking dog Tom... A charmer for sure... For some reason I thought that Princess would return pregnant...
Oh my imagination does get the best of me at times...
And, was this a dream as your heading does ask that question?

Nah. Imagination got rolling and one fictitious path led to the next.
Seems you enjoyed it. I know I did. Not sure about SuperDog

You are a crazy madcap guy, know that? Oh, sure, you have your serious side...(life, alas...)

But! When you get rolling with an idea I can think of few who match the hilarity of:

"My warm feet touched the cold floor but only for a step, for I stumbled over a cat, causing me to hit my knee on a night table before losing further balance to fall upon my dog, who I thought had been resting in the den."

Now THAT was hysterical!

Your sweet dog doesn't look like he'd ever be poodle peeping!

I really REALLY ENJOYED THIS!

Consider the dog's picture as an aftereffect of cavorting with his paramour gal-pal. As for the litter, idk. He never reported home.
    Thanks for your reply.

Hi Tom, Good story. When love is in bloom, anything is possible. Superdog and Princess ran off in a whirlwind romance. Damn.
Now you have to get a new dog. Just be glad that your dog didn't take off with your truck. Good writing.

Of special note:
My warm feet touched the cold floor but only for a step, for I stumbled over a cat, causing me to hit my knee on a night table before losing further balance to fall upon my dog, who I thought had been resting in the den.

(Good descriptive writing.)

Well done. This story made me smile. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

Thank you, dare I say, Maggie? If not, Margaret, (my sister's middle name) I remain in your debt for the swell review.

Hi Tom, you can call me Maggie. Most people who call me Maggie know me for a very long time--from when I was a girl. If I am out somewhere, and I hear someone call me Maggie, I know that it's someone from my childhood days, but yes, I still answer to Maggie. Have a great weekend. M

After 701 days of No snow here in Ocean county NJ, we had some snow, but nothing to speak of--despite the reports. Nothing to plow, nothings to shovel. Amen. Snow, the "other" four-letter word. M

Funny. But a midnight visit from the ASPCA is not at all plausible. Funny, but not believable. That a poodle is a hussy, though, is very believable! I laughed a good bit, Thanks for the great story. Karen

I don't know. Maybe the dg catcher unit, instead, but whatever it is fiction and I accept being heir to literary licensing. Thank you.

A lovely, fun post! I have to admit, I rather hoped there would be even more slapstick falls and trips by the time you got to the door! I was rather enjoying those:)) But you didn't disappoint with the remainder of the story which was just plain daft but made me smile. Well done and good luck, Tom! Debbie

This was a very humorous story. Probably a little more fiction than fact. I enjoyed the hazardous trek from the bedroom to the front door and the lecherous dog eyeing the poodle next door. Very enjoyable story. Good luck with the contest. Gretchen
