You captured EVERYTHING with these two short lines.
1) Dogs are the best commodity on the planet
2) No matter how lousy a day ever is, when you have a dog to come home to, life improves
3) Dogs fill our lives with music [LOVE the metronome reference! Very clever!] (I was going to say "Spot" on, but decided not to go for the bad joke. You're welcome.)

This is an excellent two line poem and it touched my heart, I have had two dog's named rusty. When I was a child rusty was a boy. When I was in my 30s, I got a girl yorkie mix and, to make the distinction, I named her, Rusti middle name Angel. Rusti Angel passed in 218 and I miss her every day. She also would make me feel special when she welcomed me home. I understand your poem very well and I could relate. Thank you for sharing this and Best wishes with your Rusty girl and with this contest!
