This is a very powerful and evocative story that addresses some vital issues and raises many questions. Police brutality and mental illness are two very tough nuts to crack. I don't know any answers but I do know that I am very sorry for your pain and I wish you the best of luck.

I admire that you are telling your story here. I often wonder if the police have training in mental health. Your story is vivid, creating real images and certainly this is a trauma event. Excellent writing, I see no need for any changes, this is an excellent entry for the contest. My family is loaded with mental health issues, bi-polar, depression, schizophrenia, etc, so I can appreciate your story. Best wishes to you.
