LOL!!
You know, I've never thought about what my kids may think about me when they read all of my old journals. I only know that my writing is a big part of me, and they treasure any stories they get to read - so, maybe it is fitting they know how I journal about 'everything.'
Thank you for sharing this inspired poem,
~MP~

Thank you MP for your thoughtful review. I?m ok with them reading my poetry and stories but my day to day journal entries are often filled with painful nitty gritty stuff.
I always appreciate hearing from you.

This poem was beautiful. I like that you captured all of your pain and that He took it from you and carried you through it. Like you, i would want my journal destroyed after my death. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you Jess for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I?m destroying them now so there?s no chance of anyone else reading them. I wouldn?t want them hurt by something that hopefully we have resolved long also.
I always appreciate hearing from you my friend.

I think you write for most of us. I remember finding my old diaries from middle school and high school. I thumbed through them and put them in the garbage. LoL. So I came to the same conclusion as you! Let's just celebrate the Lord's goodness and pass on our praises to Him as our legacy for our kids to read.

Thank you for this stellar review. I am still thumbing through some of my old journals but it's my plan to read and destroy. I love your conclusion too. Let's celebrate God goodness and pass on our praises to Him.
    Blessings my friend.

Hi Janet.
Personally, I never kept a journal. I guess its not a "guy" thing. But I feel the journal I kept is locked up in my head.

Your poem above is very sincere and I enjoyed reading it. And of course, as it should it concludes with the Lords acceptance of who you were and are today. No distinction.

Thank you for posting.
John

This is a delightful write from the heart. I believe the first rule of writer's is too not allow family to read your work. They either feel they must flatter, or they tend to become too critical. Leave criticism to the professionals. But keep writing.

Thank you Bob for your excellent review and support for my decision. I think you?re right about the families response to our work. Better not to let them read it.

This is an excellent poem. The flow is lovely, the rhyming on point, and I love the positive message and truths you convey through its lines. I used to keep a journal a long time ago so this brought back some memories. Anyway, you beautifully express the reality that though many bad things happen along the way, there's always so much good, so many blessings to focus on!

I liked this poem that shows how we record things in a certain way. I realized I tended to write about the big upsets, and I needed to shift gears. I have started purposefully writing down the good things, even if they don't seem to have the biggest impact on everyday events. I liked the faith evident in this poem, and I loved the author's note.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I knew a man who journaled every day and really shouldn't have. He wrote about affairs and all sorts of things. He was so proud of it that he wanted them donated to the library of the headquarters of the denomination of the church he was a minister of. His family did not but read them and it wasn't pretty. I am sure yours are nothing like that. I enjoyed reading.

Thank you Barbara for the thoughtful review. My journals have nothing like you described but they are filled with my hurts and grievances. Sadly, some of the entries sound like a pity party and some are about hurt feeling that have passed and we?re forgotten until I read them again.
Better destroyed ? but I did find some nuggets that are worth remembering.

I enjoyed reading this work. The title and the visual drew me in and made me want to read further. I journal daily and know how valuable the practice is to me. I was able to identify with your thoughts and words. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness I started writing in a diary when I was 10 yeras old and then it turned into journals...and, I too am reading and destroying what I read as I do not want anyone to read what I wrote...
Your words here
"The day he left without a word --
that still remains a mystery."
are so painful because I know that feeling... horrible and we still live with it...and will forever...
And, watching the sunset to the very end and for me themorning as it starts....
I am so glad I looked at your portfolio to find this lovely and well written piece.
All my best,
Lisa
