Great observation on a very common phenomenon. I think in our culture asking "how are you" is generally just a pleasantry, another way of saying hello, so it's not really asking or wanting to know how you are. You are so right to point out that you need to find somebody that can listen though, when you are not fine. Nice poem with good flowing lines and rhymes. Thanks for sharing! Julie

This poem is so true! I love it! I usually just say I'm fine even when I'm not. I always wondered if anyone would want to know if I'm not great. Would they want to hear that I didn't get any sleep last night or that I'm worried about my dog that's sick?
