I think your acrostic tribute to Ruby Bridges was good. I think keeping huge moments like this in the conversation is important. So many of the words you used are strong: brave, dangerous, evolving, groundbreaking. You made good use of short space.

Thank you for sharing this tribute to Ruby Bridges with us. I know this young child had to be scared to death entering that school, even with the US Marshalls with her. She was very brave.

Excellent acrostic that also makes one wonder about the history behind the piece. Also a great choice for celebrating freedom during black history month. Great work!

a powerful acrostic poem about one of the many unknown heroes and heroines of the civil right era. So many stories to be told, so much history to learn

I wonder how many of those who protested a young child's attendance in a classroom, a child who only wanted to learn what every other child in that class room was learning. I wonder how many protestors considered themselves good, God Fearing Christians. The bad news for them is that God was and is aware of their hypocrisy. If this young child grows up to become a Black Panther, a communist or just someone who hates white people, what might have been the driving force behind her feelings?

You only got one thing wrong in your response...When Ruby entered
the classroom...Wait for it...The other kids ran out of the room...There's more...White parents came and got their kids, and the
the TEACHER left! A teacher was brought in from Boston...Ruby had one on one teaching...Isn't/wasn't she a lucky little BLACK girl. I am
a BLACK girls dad. My/our youngest is a K-5 school teacher and our oldest is a 911 dispatcher... I didn't mean to go here/there...My teacher daughter says, "use your words" dad...I'm trying:)

Good for you. Ruby was born in 1954 and is still alive today. It'd be awesome if you cut and pasted a little snippet of a bio about her in your author's notes. (I found many but it would be buried her in my review)

So many heroes in the Civil Rights Movement. Little Ruby was among them and deserves to be recognized!

Thanks for your excellent suggestion Karenina...Heck, I can barely
negociate around the computer to post straight-up, imagine me trying to cut and paste...That takes skills that I don't have. Technology left me in its dust:) teafor2

You did a fantastic job of presenting Ruby Bridges in an acrostic poem that made each powerful word describe Ruby's experiences. Most remarkable is "Inside Dangerous Groundbreaking Evolving Strife." Well done.

I'm amazed we both chose Ruby as our subject. I'm not a poet, so I had to just give a narrative.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This is an extraordinary acrostic poem with each word saying something powerful and meaningful about the desegregation of schools in the Southern parts of the United States. This is, after all, Black History Month and this tribute to Ruby Bridges is a wonderfully rich background to how we have succeeded in segregating our country.

She was indeed brave and all eyes were watching. A fine acrostic but I wondered about this word: (intered) Is this a word?

Did you mean (intered) or (entered)? Perhaps: (inside) might make more sense.

Dolly, you are the 2nd reviewer to question that particular line...Your
suggestion caused me to change that one word...Now, I have to add
"eagle" eyes to exceptional "Sonneteer" (if there's such a word) to my upgraded characterization of you:) Thanks for the/better/real word. I have already made the change:) teafor2
