Where do you live? Here in Upstate New York, it is ten degrees today, and there is NO birdsong! But I'll take your vicarious thrill and imagine that we are next-door neighbors.

Good luck in the contest!! xo

Rachell Thank you for your review, It is cold where you are. I am in Florida, it is 81 here. You may be my nieces neighbor. She also lives in upstate New York. she sent picture of her children ice skating this week. Do you know Anna and Dan Hay. She owns Family Cow Soap.

No, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting them or knowing Family Cow Soap. What town do they live in? I'm in East Rochester.

This poem, Welcome to Spring, presented with a 5-7-5 formatting, reminds the readers that the seasons are coming to the next change.

Sing(,) pretty birds(,) sing.

I would use 'Bright birds sing of love/Spring's eager kiss now abounds/Sing preTTy birds, sing. Smalll differences, but when you can replace a 'the' with an adjective, I think you're ahead. And I like personification. However, while it lacks surprise and newness, the original poem has directness and purity.
