I love everything about this. It's fun, has a great tempo, vivid imagery, fantastical shenanigans and clever wordplay. It reminds me of Shel Silverstein's children's work.

If this isn't your usual style, it should be. Very few people can make poems like this 'pop off' just right but you definitely can! Excellent work!!

This is bad, but i must confess I have a sick and I love bad verse. It is also rather clever with great rhyme and pretty fair meter. It's such a good relief from all those spiritual and non-rhyming poems. Thank you for brightening my day with a bit of levity. That smile won't leave my face. Thank you again.

I have heard that rubbing lard on a person kills a whole number of ailments. Especially pickled-toes. But again, it's just a rumor.

This was a great fun read. Enjoyed it immensely. Unique is intriguing.

Yes, they do. There are many friends I once knew who are waiting for the Lord's return. But I'm still here. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Ha Ha The things that happen in our childhood. Not only a poem but a humorous story. Just a thought, perhaps instead of internal rhyming, make the poem longer ie

A big, fat monster, oozing slime,
Once ate up a friend of mine.
He was careless and he dropped his guard,
While we were playing in the yard., etc All the best NanaGaye

There was so much going on in this poem which relates perfectly to the jam-packed days of childhood. I really enjoyed it. Humorous, imaginative and fun. A great entry for the Rhyming Poetry Contest. Good luck.
