This is a very good entry for the emotions contest,
Jodi, as it does show how ugly anger can be, and how dangerous it can be to a person's emotional state of mind...Your poem was well written, and fit well in this contest...Good luck in the contest!
Warmly,
Victoria

This poem, Venom, uses the snake metaphor thoroughly as you imagine the viper's lashing out to defend itself and make short work of the other unsuspecting sole.

...but no one will ever be the same again...
a great poem about how much words really do hurt more than those sticks or stones!
the build up was good through the lines... and then the silence...
thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest
shelley :)

The structure and words flow really well in this poem. You can almost feel the anger in the words as you read them. It feels like the end of each line hits the screen.

I absolutely loved this poem. I am sure there is many of us who read these words and can relate. Your descriptive language is so powerful about the sting of words said in the depths of anger. And then as things settle, regret may slide inside but sometimes it's too late. Thanks for the reminding message.

very powerful and moving free verse poem about the power of hateful rhetoric very timely indeed. I like the image of a snake hissing words of hate I would have made it more specific to the real villains the supporters of the former President

such a great graphic. Personally, a larger font would have been nice as red can be difficult to read against a black background. That said, the words belted out your theme.

Who is harmed more... the person spewing venomous poison, or the person receiving it? Your descriptive words are filled with anger, vengeance, and hatred. Screaming, wounds, furious, and destruction, leave the speaker emotionally drained with rising pressure. The receiver is also drained. Who won? Great presentation with picture and well chosen words. Best wishes in the contest.

The picture is magnificent. You certainly can write about bad words and feelings. It was as if the words themselves can bite right into us. You sending those snippets to get us. Well done. Karen

Excellent. We all feel great anger at some point and we can all relate to this. We have all spewed venom at another and then felt badly about it. This is a very human emotion and it is refreshing to hear you write about it.
