I've just come across this, Kay, and had to read it. That is a lovely photo of you. I like the word able-disabled. That sums you up perfectly. You've done well with your life, my friend, and I'm in awe of you determination to do as much as you can and more. Well done and good luck in the contest. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

I know many people whose biggest fear is becoming immobile. I think that is probably my biggest fear, too. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. Good luck with the contest.

Hello Barbara, Many thanks for reading. Nothing we can do about it. Time is our master and our bodies are wearing out. I shall be glad to be upstairs with family. K xx

I believe that after a certain age, most of us become concerned about loosing capabilities as body parts break down. However, you have a very positive attitude for someone who has experienced your challenges.

I, too, am concerned about loosing mobility, but based on my personal disabilities. Your story is inspiring and uplifting, and I'm sure it will encourage someone else as it has encouraged me. Best wishes in the contest.

This was a very poignant and also positive read Kay as you share your story about your fear of losing more mobility. Though I don't have your issues I too have times when those fears are prominent, especially at this time of year when Humidity becomes a heavy load. Like you I find fanstory a good friend to lean on. Well done Kay, you are an inspiration.
Cheers
Valda

G'Day Valda, Yes, the humidity sucks the life out of us, the worst I have ever felt this year; we reached 100% one day and I know how bad it is in your neck of the woods. Thanks for reading my friend. K xx

You are an awesome lady to keep going against the odds and enjoy every bit of life that you can. Losing mobility is a fear many people face. We like to be independent and prove we can take care of ourselves, but it isn't always possible.
Thanks for sharing your concerns and triumphs.
Best of luck in the contest.

No one could say you were in it for yourself only: "My first love was horses and so I started a branch for Riding for the Disabled. Attitude really does matter, doesn't? "I am a positive person but everything hurts and nothing much works." i am aware there are some programs where people are allowed to be able to remain in their own home I would definitely check into that:
My greatest fear is being put into a Nursing Home with no voice to fight for my rights." i don't know what I would do with myself if I didn't have writing to do. I'm glad you have that to fall back upon. I will send you healing on all levels if you will receive it.

Yes, the feeling of being vulnerable and dependent on others is not easy to cope with, as in my series of stories about Jonathan. Keep your mind sharp, and enjoy on-line friendships, and look after little Benny. Your poignant story is very honest, and well written, so best wishes for the contest.

You can always talk to me. My email is robinsonelaine48@gmail.com. I admire your positive attitude. You focus on what you can do and it is wonderful that you have help and are able to remain in your home with Benny. I hope you do not have to go to a nursing home at some point. Prayers sent. This is an interesting memoir about you that I enjoyed reading. I am glad you were able to travel when you did.

Hi Elaine, I've taken note of your email. Having nursed the dying, the thought of a nursing home :-(
I had a wonderful time traveling and would live in the UK if I could. Love, Kay xx

Good for you. Depression is an unwelcome guest in my house as well. As long as you have the desire to keep going, you're ahead of the game. Your writing is inspiring to others and a great way to express yourself. Keep your mind busy and don't focus on the rear view mirror but forward on the windshield of possibility.

Hi June, I liked your take on 'Don't look back, look forward! I miss my family who are all upstairs waiting for me. Maybe He has more for me to do. Love, Kay xx
