How did he get that hole in and deafness in his ears? Sometimes, people are given ailments and whatnot so others can see how stumbling blocks can be overcome. People have used me as an example as someone who has overcome a lot. Life is just life. You can wallow or you can persevere. I know which one I choose. Best wishes and love for you and your family.

Thank you for your kind comments Karen.
Tristan was born with a hole in his heart that we didn?t know he had. Why the blood clot formed and traveled to his brain, we don?t know. But?. God is good. Tristan was in one of the best places in the world to have the blood clot removed from his brain. They saved his life in far away Taiwan. Since he has been home, he had the hole in his heart repaired and two weeks ago , he was cleared to lead a "normal " life. To God be the glory.

    Blessings to you and yours

Thank you Sanku for your generous and encouraging review. He is definitely a fighter. His family never considered him handicapped which probably one of the many reasons her survived this ordeal.

This week Tristan is in Dallas at the request of the US National Soccer team to speak to some of their athletes. If you google, Tristan Torbett, you will see the whole article about him from Yahoo.

thank you again and wishing you a very Happy Easter.

Oh Janet, this is so sad and how scary for all of you. To be so far away and not be able to do anything, and so helpless. You wrote the poem so beautifully and the picture is wonderful. You, grandma, and the rest have a lot to be thankful for. So glad it turned out well. God bless all of you, especially Tristan.

I googled Tristan Foor and there was one who was murdered by a thief. Please tell me when he got older that it wasn't your grandson. He was such a nice looking boy.

Thank you Debi for your thoughtful and encouraging review. We are all so grateful for how this all turned out - especially for Tristan. Technology is amazing and his mom faced timed us so we could see and talk to him on the other side of the world.
His name is Tristan Torbett and if you Google that name, you will find the Yahoo article about his experience.
He is Dallas this week where he has been asked to speak to some athletes about his experience.
Grandma agrees - He is a good looking guy.

    Thanks again.

Your grandson was a remarkable child who despite a hearing loss, still achieved his goals. As a strong and talented young man he was able to join the US Deaf National Soccer team and compete around the country and abroad. His story proves God is always in control. A stroke and heart condition did not stop him from living a happy, successful life. Thank you for sharing his story.

Hello Janet,

I'm so glad that I got to read this simply amazing story about your grandson, Tristan. What an incredible young man he is. To be born with such a hearing loss and to accomplish what he has so far, especially after the stoke, is simply remarkable.

Being able to accomplish all that he has in just 23 years, just think of all the great things he will do as she gets older. Maybe even president, I sure wish he was going to be on the ballot this November. He surely would get my vote.

God bless him and keep him safe. Happy Easter Janet...Bill

Wonderful artwork and poem to go with it, Janet. Your notes would have made a very good story. Thanks for sharing those, too. Is the image from the article, and is that Tristan in the picture?

How fortunate he was that the people involved with the team knew exactly what to do and saved his life. You wrote a very good poem about it with effective imagery and rhyme. Even teammates were involved in helping Tristan. Everyone reacted and did the right thing at the right time. Luckily, he made it to the hospital. I can't imagine how his mother must have felt. You end the poem very well, showing how your family made it through this situation.

Thanks for sharing everything, and I am very glad that Tristan is doing well and back to the sport he loves and able to have a full life.

His mom in particular had quite a night until she could get on a plane herself and be with him in Taiwan.

Hi there,
Because I do not follow sports, I wasn't aware this happened. Poor thing! But you're so right - God was there and pulled him through so he can continue to do great things.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. My prayers go to him for a gentle recovery,
~Mustang~

What a story! Firstly a wonderful achievement for him to play soccer for his country. But how dreadful to have a stroke at his young age, and to need heart surgery. Despite all his problems he is now well, and his story is a wonderful testimony to God's goodness and care, supplying the right people at the right time. Praise Him, and yes, to Him be the glory! And to put that whole story into a poem ... it's very lovely, and very well composed with smooth rhyme and flow. Well done.
