I've heard of a few strange and irrational fears in my time, but this one takes some beating. Mind you, I do become slightly maniacal when the buttonhole is slightly too small for the button.

As an odd person myself. I have great sympathy for your somewhat unique condition. If I ever have a deep need to send you a present, I promise it will not contain any buttons. How were you with records and record players? Good writing. Karen n

Love records but I could not swallow one of those not even a 7". I think that is where the fear is born perhaps as a baby/toddler.

Wow! This fear of buttons is a new one to me. I wonder if the Amish suffer from this irrational distrust of the "circular objects containing voids". The incurred here seem to set this on the 'nice young men with their clean white suits' plane.

This is a very amusing article, perfect for my last read of the night. I never heard of such a phobia. Did Jobs really have it, or is it just for this story? I must admit, the picture with your story is really creepy. Thanks for the giggle. Very well done.

I enjoyed and was fascinated by this short essay. I never heard of this phobia, yet I don't like the smell of mint either, it has made me sick over the years, good luck.

When my daughter was young, she didn't even want me to say the word "button" to her. It is a true fear! Never have I seen it immortalized in literature before! A FanStory first!

This is an excellent entry for the 'my worst fear' contest. For a while I thought it was actually T-shirt necks that were the problem - silly me! I think it could be improved by actually never using the word at all (you have one at the end). kay

I though of it as the big reveal. Some people have to be spoon-fed. lol

I have to admit that I have never heard of this phobia, but it doesn't surprise me. There are so many fears out there, each one devastating to the person afflicted.
You did a great job with this. There was a kind of grim humor, especially at the end.
Well done!

Geez! How did you get that picture of my ex? LOL
Okay, don't even try to make me say that title. LOL
Wow! The very strange phobias we, as humans, can have--very weird.
Thanks for the education on this phenomenon.
Did you still get your godson that gift?

Lol. I am afraid my godson is a fictional four year old who also appeared in my poem 'on being a tw*t'. I did buy some but not with buttons for eyes.

Living with a fear/phobia of round objects must drive you nuts. I guess there is no cure for your malady. Fear, the only way out is through. Your illustration complimented the story. Welcome to fanstory. I have been here 13 yrs! Kay xx
