Girl, I was going to suggest Joan Osborne to you - her or Sarah McLachlan. I was so excited to see this waiting in my inbox:-)
One of Us is still my favorite song of hers - it would come on the radio while I was driving the kids somewhere and we'd all three sing it. I loved the thought of God being one of us, "just a slob like one of us".
I had no idea she wanted to be a priest. I think she would have been a good one, challenging her flock to explore their faith and love for Christ.
Thank you so much for this. I just played the video and got goosebumps!

Oh Pam, that's great that you know her! I was a bit worried because, other than that amazing hit, I knew nothing about her. The lyrics to that 'anthem' are amazing aren't they? I am totally, completely unfamiliar with this artist! But I liked learning about her through this well, worked, melodic poem you've created. You always have the best way of bringing the artists to life for us in such a personal way, and that is remarkable to me. I think because you do so much research, you feel familiar with them, and that translates into your special brand of poems.

Dear Elle, I didn't know the artist either, other than that amazing song of hers. She came highly recommended though so I thought I'd give her a go.
