Mark.
I read this a few days back and thought I responded... guess not.

Stanley Futtleheart? J love the name and I loved the story. I've never had a cat (always dogs) but I got right in line with your story.

Great ending twist. Best of luck in the contest
John

Not typical at all, beginning with that crazy name you gave her, lol! You have described cat behaviors in these situations perfectly, then you go and throw in that surprise ending - brilliant!

A good entry for the contest, Mark. I wish you the best. These 100-word stories can be difficult to write, but when you get them right they are a delight! (I really didn't intend to be a poet here.)

Have a great week,

xo
Pam

You made me smile here Mark, I think that animals are almost human as they spend so much time with us and read us so well, I loved the humour here, love Dolly x

I love to look at the furry creatures and even pet them, but cats are far to persnickety for my liking. And the name made be think of something stinky...like a skunk. Not sure what your personal intentions were, but it's cute for a flash regardless.

"Stankey Futtleheart" Find me a better name anywhere for a pet cat.
" a collar, she just walked backwards until I removed it." Ha! Amusing imagery--of a cat with a collar walking backwards.
"you know I'm not a cat don't you." Question mark needed after you.
"Yes," I lied." Then 'shat my pants' I would add. If my cat--any cat/animal--ever talked to me, I'd lose it.
Good luck in the contest.

This was an amusing tale told in those few number of words. As a living partner with cats in the past, I've seen cats do some strange things, but not quite like this. Hope this rebellious whatever-it-is brings you to the top of the contest.

Hahaha, I loved it. So who was this stubborn and opinionated cat. An incarnation I'm sure. It really appealed to my imagination. Thank best of luck. Ulla:)))

My cat won't eat out of bowl either He also won't eat any soft food. I have to always feed him kibble but that's all right and I have to put it on the floor. He won't eat it out of a bowl or any kind of a dish. The ending of this makes me think of my dear friend MaBaker who has disappeared off the radar. I don't she's from Australia. I don't know if she's still alive or if she's in a nursing home or what, but is some place where she evidently isn't able to communicate or do any more writing. She wrote about this cat that was part human that's what this made be think of Mugs. Oh he was precious.

I do understand. I am owned by two orange male tabbies. Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us. I enjoyed reading.

Thank you for your suggestion I am new to Flash fiction most of what I write is poetry transposed into prose. What you suggest shows a confidence I did not have when writing it. But I agree it looks better and will made changes when I am back with my laptop.

Oh yes, we've owned 12 cats and five dogs, (one still living) who've led healthy long lives and all different, some who thought they were human, well, they were always facility members, beautifully written Mark, blessings Roy
