Hi Mark!

Thank you for the background history on the Tyburn. I hadn't realized it had such dark roots. I think you did an excellent job with your presentation here. The syllable counts are true to form. Wishing you the best of luck in the contest.

Kim

A very powerful Tyburn poem for the writing prompt. Once you are aware of the poem's context, the words are strong, dark and disturbing. Nicely written. Good luck.

Your poem was very intriguing, then your author's notes brought your poem home.
You taught me something, I like that. This type of poem is difficult to write, but you did a wonderful job.

I think you've nailed the tyburn my friend, although it's tough trying to win a contest with an entry in this contest, but you've certainly got a chance with this excellent post. Well done, blessings Roy

I was going to try to write one myself, but it had so many rules that I had a headache before I wrote one word. So well done, and kudos to you, unknown person! Karen :-)

Without the notes, I knew what this was about immediately as I know the history here of those hangings, this is a clever post and I reckon it is a winner for the contest, love Dolly x

Thank you, I am not very knowledgeable of London, it is not an particular interest of mine. I do however have a basic knowledge of its history and knew of Tyburn and so it was my first though of what a Tyburn Poem would be. The notes were placed for anyone outside of the UK as they are unlikely to have watch many documentaries about London. Please give me a vote when it comes around to be released. It has been days now for some reason.

Oh my, my, my this started out very jolly and fun and took a 180 at the end.

This could be describing so many times throughout history.

The plight of African Americans, the witch trials, horse thieves giddy with success until they were caught.

Interesting. Very interesting. D.

Tyburn was used a lot for Catholics in protestant England.. Many thanks, please remember me when the voting starts.

I have to confess that I'd never heard of Tyburn Verse before reading the description. You certainly filled all the criteria, and honestly you did it so well.
Excellent work!

This tyburn, The Tyburn Tree, has the proper formatting and gives a bleak picture of the hapless condemned as they drop and hang, allowing some macabre dancing at the end of a rope.

Yes, you may have taken it a little more literally than most!

But hey, you've produced something more surprising and meaningful which is what poetry is all about. Let's see what the voters have to say in the booth.

Steve

I am not expecting this to do well. I am new to this site, but I don't see much dark humour, not in the poets anyway.
