I'm still trying to get my head around the contest prompt! No wonder not many entered. Your verse, however, is packed full of character and detail and everything looks to be going well before that rainstorm hit. I like the imagery of the last stanza and those two hearts taking "pieces of regret." A powerful conclusion. Good luck! A strong contender;) Debbie

This is a sad poem, as love so often is when it burns the wick of passion down and the light dims into night. With the "Star Wars t-shirt" it took me back some years. Not every fairy tale wish comes true, alas.
Just my opinion, but it's such a gently melancholy poem I think perhaps the bold is a bit much...but hey, you've got full control here!
I found your opening line charmingly simple...

Sorry. No sixes till tomorrow. This was a very well-worded bittersweet poem and every time I read something like this I think what a fool that fellow must have been to walk away from a winner like you! Luckily, I took no chances and proposed on my second date.

A well-written poem with a heart wrenching conclusion. It is good in the sense they knew it wouldn't work saving themselves future heartache, but sad in that their feelings were so strong for each other. You did a great job conveying these emotions.
